The 2017-18 Destination Imagination (DI) season has been a successful one for Fluvanna County Public Schools. Two teams participated in the Jefferson Region DI Tournament held on Saturday, February 17, 2018. One of Fluvanna’s teams advanced to State competition.

Fluvanna County High School announced today that it has been recognized as a Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Distinguished School for providing broad access to transformative learning opportunities for students through PLTW Engineering. It is one of just 133 high schools across the U.S. and one of only four high schools in Virginia to receive this honor. PLTW is a nonprofit organization that serves millions of K-12 students and teachers in over 10,500 schools across the U.S.

Jacob Ondek has been notified by the National Geographic Society that he is one of the semifinalists eligible to compete in the 2018 Virginia National Geographic State Bee, sponsored by Google and Plum Creek. The contest will be held at Longwood University on Friday, April 6, 2018.

For the second time in three years, the Fluco Speech team won the State Title. At the March 24 competition at Clover Hill, 15 Flucos competed at the state level in nine categories. Eight students won the title in their category and four were runners up, giving the Flucos the States Title with a total of 39 points, far above their nearest competitor.
SECOND ANNUAL SHINE SYSTEMS UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED – Fluvanna High School Senior, Rachel Sherman, Receives $10,000
[CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA, March 27th 2018] — SHINE Systems is excited to announce the winner of the second annual SHINE Systems University Scholarship.
Rachel Sherman, a high school senior at Fluvanna High School and the daughter of employee Niki Sherman, was awarded the 2018-2019 scholarship. She will receive $10,000 and will attend Longwood College in the Fall pursuing an English major and creative writing minor degree.

Fluvanna County High School is pleased to announce the availability of the Paul W. Bragg Scholarship Fund application. Established by Mr. Bragg’s will, and managed by the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation, the scholarship is meant “to provide undergraduate college assistance based on both need and merit to graduates of Fluvanna County High School.” The Paul W. Bragg
Scholarship Fund Advisory Committee was formed to develop the eligibility rules, to develop the number of scholarships to be awarded in a given year and the amounts, to develop the application and submission procedures including deadlines, and to develop a brochure to publicize this scholarship fund.
